"Vitamin C" Bricks
Fabric Requirements:
Orange:  1 - 1/2 yard
White (or Cream):  1 - 1/2 yard
Border:  1-1/2 yard
Binding:  3/4 yard
Quilt without borders
1.  Cut 9 -  3-1/2" strips of orange
Then cut these into 3-1/2" X 5-1/2" rectangles.
2.  Cut 9 - 3-1/2" strips of white or cream
Then cut these into 3-1/2" X 5-1/2" rectangles.
3.  Sew white rectangle to orange rectangle (on long side with white on
top)
4.  Press to dark.
5.  Sew 2 rectangles (step 3) together to form a checkerboard block.
6.  Sew 5 sets of step 5 together to form row 1.
7.  Repeat 9 times.  
8.  Sew all rows together
9.  Cut 7 strips of border material 6-1/2".
A.  Cut one strip in half (22")
B.  Sew each 1/2 strip to side borders to make 50" long
C.  Sew remaining strips together to make 2 strips 72" long (for
top and bottom)
10.  Sew side borders onto quilt
11.  Sew top and bottom borders.
12.  Sandwich with top, batting & backing.
13.  Quilt as desired.
14.  Cut 8 2-1/2" strips of binding fabric.  
A.  Sew together
B.  Bind as desired.

Placemats:  
Fabric A:  4 pieces that measure 12.5" X 15.5"
Fabric B:  4 pieces that measure 12.5" X 15.5"
Batting:    4 pieces that measure 12.5" X 15.5"

Sandwich fabric right sides together, batting .  
Sew 1/4" from edge leaving an opening large
enough to turn right side out.  Trim corners,
trim, then turn right side out.  Press out to make
sure corners are square and flat.  Whip stitch
opening closed.  

Optional:  Appliqué design onto front of fabric.  
Optional:  Before sewing together if desired sew
small pocket onto front for silverware or napkin.
Coasters:  
Fabric B:  4 pieces that measure 5.5" X 5.5"
Batting:    4 pieces that measure 5.5" X 5.5"

Sandwich fabric right sides together, batting .

Insul-Brite
Lining (right side up)
Main Fabric (right side down)

Sew using ¼” seam around
wrap, leaving enough room to
turn right side out.  (use back
stitch to secure start and stop
points.
Trim corners, turn right side
out.  Push out corners neatly.  
Iron.  Sew Velcro onto wrap
liner on one end and main
fabric on other end.  

Wrap around can and enjoy a
cool drink.

Fabric 1 - 2 - 6.5" squares
Fabric 2 - 2 - 4.5" squares
Fabric 3 - 2 - 2.5" squares

Matching Thread
Place squares right sides together.  Sew (using 1/4" seam) around all sides leaving an
opening large enough to turn right side out.  Trim corners and turn right side out.  
Stuff to desired thickness (remembering that you will sew through all layers).  Whip
stitch opening.  Repeat for all 3 squares.  Place 4" square on top of 6" square and
sew through the middle of the squares.  Then place the 2" square on top and sew
through all layers.  Pulling tightly.  Sew button on top of the small square through all
layers.
